No Stamina
I honestly don't know where my fitness has gone.
I took December off.
My first run back in January, I managed 6 miles. The 2 days later, I managed 7 miles. Then 2 days later I managed 8 miles.
That's 21 miles in one week after 4 weeks of no running.
The second week, I did 9 miles, then 2 days later, I upped the incline and did 8 miles.
I managed to keep doing at least 2x8 mile runs a week for January.
I didn't think I was going to be fit enough for my first race, but I ran it, and I ran it well. The following week, I only managed a 4 miler, and then left it a few days, and then did a 9 miler.
I then managed a couple of 6 milers during the week. Then the week before the next race, I just about managed 2x3 mile runs, but had to walk for some of that.
Following the race, I did a 3 mile run that week, but was shattered for the rest of the week and didn't go running.
I wanted to start afresh this week.
I managed just about 6 miles on Monday, but really couldn't have done anymore. I went to the gym last night with every intention of running 7 miles, but only just managed 3 and that was a struggle.
I just don't get it. I really don't. This time last year I was running at least 20 miles a week, now I'm barely managing 9? What's that all about? True, I've upped my pace ever so slightly, but I just feel weak all the time.
I know I'm eating enough, because I'm not losing weight, so I must be. I'm eating plenty of vegetables, porridge for breakfast every day, lots of fruit (oranges, grapes), and having calcium through milk. I'm eating some carbs (sweet potato, tortilla wrap); so I honestly don't know why I'm not able to run the distances I used to be able to.

have you tried a week of eating whatever you want to see if that helps the running? You might need to up your intake.
are you eating enough protein?
are you pregnant?
I did a week of eating whatever I wanted a few weeks ago (Valentine's week) and I put on 2.5lb, and I think I did a few more miles, but I can't remember.
I'm sure there are exercises, but I just don't get why it was so much easier last year and what's different about this year.
Nope. I did stop with all the running in July/August - and start doing more half hour stints on the bikes and cross trainers combined with doing weights for about 4 months though.
Last year I was running from September through to June (again, with December off), and I didn't have any problems.
Yet strangely, my race times are significantly faster. Maybe I'm giving up too easily and not pushing myself hard enough?
